From my experience at least, when you love someone, you tend to be some sort of addicted to them at the same time. I can't say what causes one to be more or less addicted to that person because there really is no explanation, I would think. Maybe it's the type of bond between the two. Like those who are soul mates feel as if the other person is almost a sort of drug. And maybe side effects of that are that they only see that other person--like they're not just the only person in the room, but in the world.
Or, another example, if they're just great friends turned romantic, they might feel like the other is the greatest support they have or will ever have.
Regardless, it does beg the question: "Is love an adiction? Or is it the one you love that's the addiction?"
